The movement of this motion graphic and its jerky, kinda of strange sound and image relationship is really nice and is how i want my idents to end up, vector traced imagery moving around ina jerky and almost violent fashion.
It's good how you have looked at a broad range of idents, trailers and motion graphics even though you know you are heading in the direction of info-graphics. I think this idea is intriguing and I'd love to see how you introduce this to the sci-fi genre. When I think 'sci-fi' I think of the obvious, flying saucers ha! You could concentrate on movement, whether its smoooooth or sharp objects moving from off the screen.... to make the imagery quite intense. You should look at speed in particular and ways of using aftereffects to really let the imagery and music work! Are you going to use type as well? If so, what type faces could you use? Would be the main feature or will it be quite discreet? Now you know your genre/theme...you should research into the exact films you want in your season. How are they different? Is there a particular object, colour or word that represents each film?

<< This isn't a brill example but they have just used after effects I think. Its quite old but it includes sci-fi and the movement could be inspirational maybe?
Anyway I shall look forward to seeing the result : ) You seem fairly excited to crack on with it ! x
