inspiring

these animations inspired a new idea in a brainstorming session with ollie, Ill document it on design practise as well but basically the idea was to make a paper instrument with characters instead of buttons and then make a beat out of pressing the different characters.

As you can see it takes a very long time to set something like this up! Luckily what me and Ol are wanting to do is smaller scale big a long way, but will still take alot of planning and co ordination with the camera in order to produce a nice piece of stop motion, this video isnt stop motion but does show a good snese of consideration within it, similar to what is needed when producing stop motion animations.

image sequencing

A nice example of image sequencing, the whole set is made from paper too and we need to be thinking about how to fluently image sequence within a crafted physical set, should it be moving or still? what will the lighting be like? what is the feel of the set? how does this relate to the image sequence itsself? these are the types of questions we should be asking ourselves.

Another great one here for music and image together, to create an exciting and entertaining end result.

seed paper craft/ illustrative stop frame

A charming little animation about the life cycle of a seed. I wanted to put up the making of this video too to show how much planning must be needed to get to these stages of production.

I thought this was a little too slick to be papercrafted! Its all CGI. Oh well, it looks good but again it shows that our be crafty idea could still really have some weight behind it and would be a really effective ident or ident series because it woulg get the kids involved as well as show them paper craft animations - or in this case faux paper craft animation.

More cartoon network stop motion

Close_Peppertoons from Dalmiro Buigues on Vimeo.

A little homicidal but it has that fun vibe to it because of things like the music and movment, the pace of which things happen in is probably about right and is probably about the pace me and ollie want our anumation to be.

This is crazy, because these videos are so similar to mine and ols initial idea! But still it shows that our idea is applicable and also something cartoon network are happy to take on.

This is the kind of overhead view idea I was talking about in my previous post, again this shows that the idea of making and doing is an idea that has been done, so our ideas need pushing and twaeking, which is why we have the what happens next idea and also the DIY animation kit ideas in circulation.

overhead view

just a nice overheadview shot of some paper making noise, this video is also a good example of layering sound up within a stop motion animation. Me and ollie have decided that we are including an overhead shot blue peter style paper craft make in our video.

I thought this video was a good example of a cute character kids could relate to, and that is down to how he moves, me and ol need to work out how our character will move within the stop motion animation.

Looky Here!

I found this on vimeo, its wierd because me and olly are thinking about doing a similar thing, But I thought I would put it up because it does show how possible it is to make short humourous little animations using paper craft and digital software combined.

facial expressions

cartoon networks shows are absolutely packed with crazy facial expressions and me and ollie intend to explore the use of facial expression in our video, I remembered the grim adventures of billy and mandy on cartoon network and how insane it is to watch. looking at these videos now, show me that the only real reasons i enjoyed them back then was because of the facial expressions and the sound merged. This is definately something that needs to be explored in the video production..

faces! mischief
